TLALTECUHTLI of the Amphibious Dawn
The Mesoamerican monster goddess of the earth, Tlaltecuhtli is seen as representative of the complex relationship between the humans and nature, destruction vs. creation.
Her body is an earthy ochre colour, with long jagged tongue emerging from a gaping fanged mouth. She has limbs with skull adornments attached and each limb also has its own eye.
Her hair is a rich green colour to represent the vegetable world, growth and fertility, whilst she is clawed and ferocious, she is shown in a birthing pose depicting her in her role of great mother.
