ARABELLA

Lincolnshire, 1889, Sunday 13th October

"Lady Maud Gorstle pried open the creaking cobwebbed door of the crumbling worm eaten old clock, looming ominously in the dust-closeted dark of the East wing attics of Radclyffe House.

Inside, a grim discovery. With a piercing shriek of horror, she reveals the rank remains of her 14yr old daughter - missing since a particularly enthusiastic game of hide and seek a year earlier - her mildewed garments and mummified skin stretched parchment thin, her frail limbs entangled amongst the weights and pendulum of the grotesque coffin clock

Interred amongst ancestors on the family plot she has been recently sighted numerous times (in spirit form) lurking beneath the shadows of an ancient moss-furred beech.
